Brother Joey,

I just came across your blog and must say that I am pleasantly surprised by what I have read thus far. As a fellow Reformed Christian who shares your interests and your desire for catholicity in the Church of Christ, I pray our Lord would work through you mightily as you seek to love and serve Him and His sheep.

Many blessings brother,

Jonathan

Human grief and sadness always accompany death in this life. Even the early Christians wept at the death of loved ones, as did Christ Jesus Himeself. The real difference, however, is found in the promise of the unending care of our Lord. He assured us that we are bound for a "prepared place" made for us. The best rendering of John 14:2 is "In My Father's house are many rooms..." The notion of "mansions" in today's language and nuance is totally foreign to the Scriptures. We are accorded a place in the house of God --- and that is sufficient. Our activity is not reunion with loved ones from the past, however romantic and sentimental this may seem to us now. The primary activity of heaven is the exclusive worship of Almighty God. That's why worship is the primary activity of Christian living here. All the other activities of the Christian life --- Christian education, evangelism, service, etc. --- ALL stem from Scriptural worship. Each time one of us is "promoted" from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant, worship grows. We'll all miss our beloved Elder and friend, but he has traveled to a "land that is fairer than day." His faith has become sight. We rejoice for him and pity ourselves that we are not yet transported. Our work continues......

Joey,
I love you BROTHER. I'm glad to see you post. It's great to be able to read your thoughts on things. I can't get away from the mission that God has called me to, maybe I've been running or hiding for years. But something happened last night in my heart. Pray for me, as I pray for you. Once again, I enjoyed your first blog.
